Rudder installing!

Kelly and I restarted our jobs as lead instructors for the OEE program here up at Camp Orkila. Since the arts and crafts shop (where we built our boats) has been in use by, you know, kids who are arting and crafting, we have had to put off installing our rudders.

But last weekend we drilled the holes in the stern of the boat and in the bulkhead. Then we fed the cable tubing through from the foot braces to where the rudder bracket is installed and fed the cable through that. To solidify and waterproof the cable housing at the holes we thickened epoxy and put it under and around tubing at the stern and then also near the foot pedals.

After letting that dry we followed all the little directions to put the rudder together and onto the rudder bracket and did a bit of adjusting to get the cable tension right. We haven't had time to try it out yet but the new fixed pedal, toe push smart track system seems sweet.

We have pretty much planned our food out. We've ordered all of our dry food that would be hard to find in towns and we need to just divide it up and pack it up into boxes to send to our drop spots along the way. Also since we ordered paper maps and charts to save money, we've ordered a bunch of nikwax map proof to make them waterproof.
